The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, located in Varanasi (Kashi), Uttar Pradesh, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Considered the spiritual heart of India, it stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganga. The temple has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, with the current structure commissioned by Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore in 1780. Devotees believe that a visit to Kashi and darshan of Lord Vishwanath leads to moksha (liberation).
