📖 Origin & Heritage
Chikankari is the celebrated white-on-white embroidery of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, with roots traced to the Mughal era. Popular lore credits Empress Nur Jahan for patronage and refinement of this delicate craft. Traditionally worked on fine muslin and mulmul, today Chikankari adorns cotton, chiffon, georgette and silk—retaining its airy elegance and understated luxury.
